House on the Vesuvius - 1978
A large “loft” of 300 square metres exposed to 4 sides with a terrace suspended on the lava of the last Vesuvius eruption (1944): these are the elements of a house in which the light, the precious materials – i. e. the floor made up of Siam teak boards salvaged from the “Michelangelo” transatlantic – and the harmony of forms represent a special mix that makes the property unique and “suspended” between the Gulf of Naples and the Vesuvius. The realization of this project has made me a strong believer that the humility of an architect must always consider man and the quality of life as the centre of his profession.
