The hotel was built in a small villa dating back to the beginning of the 20th century, late-liberty style, situated south of Pescasseroli in a large park of 7.000 square meters with century-old trees. The small villa Mon Repos – Sipari was built at the beginning of the century by the owner Commendator Francesco Sipari, belonging to the Sipari family from Pescasseroli. The project was by his brother Erminio Sipari, a Member of Parliament, engineer and Under-secretary of the government before fascism. They both were Benedetto Croce’s uncles, the great philosopher born in Pescasseroli.
The following purchase and restoration made a valuable contribution to the environmental improvement of the area and to the urban configuration of the town. The restoration was carried out with strict philological studies of materials, lines and colors, the mosaic marble floors, the designed crystal lamps and liberty-style floor-lamps, the Tiffany hand-made glass windows, the decò style bathrooms and cherry-wood furniture, the elegant boiserie, the varieties of colors and the precious fabric of curtains are the result of this study revivified by the designer’s creativity and imagination. The techno-functional solutions in the distribution of the places and facilities were studied combining together the modern comfort and the strictest respect of the original setting, mostly valorizing the iron supporting structures of the roof.
The outer structure of the park was realized without altering the essence of original long-stemmed plants enriched by evergreen flower-beds and a well-trimmed English-style lawn in the background. An interesting and unusual outer lighting system with tricks of light, delicate and essential, valorizes the hotel structures, the trees and the park paths with precision and harmony. A hotel with such characteristics of elegance of places and the completeness of comfort, of small size and such to allow the best service deployment and customer’s care with a reasonable organization, can be considered as an integration and a completion of the receptive range of Pescasseroli and National Abruzzo Park offer.
