Rural communities in France - 1982

To design an entire town for three thousand inhabitants, farmers for the most part, was a unique and absorbing experience. It was not easy to put together all the demands and the countless needs in a harmonious whole in which the use of ecological materials and the revival of old and skilful building techniques ensured a “unicum” perfectly integrated in nature. At that time there were no computers and still I have nightmares when I think of the months spent drawing - often with unreliable pens - thousands of roof-tiles, bricks and stones used for this work.
